REVIEW

Neuro-IOM is a universal multifunctional system for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IOM). Its use makes it possible to warn the surgical team in a timely manner about the possibility of damage to nervous structures as a result of the surgeon's actions and thereby prevent possible subsequent neurological deficits.

In most countries, IOM is mandatory for many types of surgical interventions, in particular for operations on the spine, brain and brainstem, etc. For example, in operations to eliminate scoliosis, IOM determines the tactics of the surgical intervention itself. Currently, this method is being actively implemented in our country.

Neuro-IOM is the first Russian-made system. A few years ago, Neurosoft, which has extensive experience in the development and production of neurophysiological equipment, rapidly entered the world market of IOM equipment. The device has successfully passed registration in Russia and received a CE certificate, which allows it to be used in a number of foreign countries. And now more than a hundred of our systems for intraoperative neuromonitoring are successfully operating in medical institutions in Russia, Brazil, France, Jordan, Turkey, Bulgaria, etc.

32-channel entry-level system

The Neuro-IOM configuration (version 2) has the necessary basic functionality for intraoperative neuromonitoring.

The main unit of the system has:

  • 64 amplifier inputs (32 bipolar channels with freely switched inputs)
  • the use of a 32-channel amplifier can significantly improve the quality of IOM due
  • to the ability to monitor a larger number of conductive paths compared to a 16-channel one);
  • 2 separate EMG/EP channels;
  • 4 channels of electrical stimulation;
  • direct nerve stimulation channel;
  • channels of photo-, phono-, pattern-stimulation;
  • electrocoagulator operation detection lines.

The system allows intraoperative neuromonitoring of all modalities, including the registration of motor evoked potentials using a current stimulator with the ability to set the current strength up to 200 mA.

We equip Neuro-IOM with remote units for connecting abduction and stimulation electrodes with five-meter cables, which allows us to place the system at some distance from the operating table so as not to interfere with the surgical team's free movement.

The system is also equipped with a set of special electrodes, a computer and special software.

Two-in-one: IOM system and dual-channel myograph

The Neuro-IOM system can also be used as an electroneuromyograph. The recording channels and all the necessary stimulants are already built into it.

In this way, when the system is not in the operating room, it can work as a standard clinical electroneuromyograph. But not just a myograph, but a myograph from Neurosoft!

Motor, somatosensory, auditory, visual EP, EMG, direct nerve stimulation, EEG, ECoG, etc. are more than 10 modalities of monitoring.

The Neuro-IOM system comes with pre-configured templates using all the main modalities of intraoperative monitoring:

  • direct nerve stimulation;
  • electromyography (EMG);
  • somatosensory evoked potentials (SVEP);
  • motor evoked potentials (MVP);
  • auditory evoked potentials (SVP);
  • visual evoked potentials (VEP);
  • electroencephalography (EEG);
  • electrocorticography (ECoG);
  • direct cortical stimulation;
  • TOF test.

The use of these modalities makes it possible to assess the preservation of motor and sensory pathways, the integrity of peripheral nerves, the functional state of the brain, to map its functional zones, and much more.

Can be flexibly configured for any monitoring needs

The program comes with a large set of ready-made operation templates. Each template includes settings for a list of modalities for a certain type of operation, the location of curved windows on the screen, registration parameters, stimulation parameters, and much more. The device has a large number of channels and stimulators, each of which requires a separate setting. The use of ready-made templates allows you to radically simplify and speed up the preparation of the system for surgery.

At the same time, the user always has the opportunity to change and save the settings of any operation template. Many users of Neuro-IOM appreciate this feature as unique for this system. No other system in the world has such flexibility.
